a Friendmoon spent in the trees!

It's my birthday today, and although it's exciting to have a birthday, it's not exciting getting older. I am 35 today but still feel 25. I think if I was done having kids, was more established in a career, and knew I had accomplished more things, I would feel great about turning 35, but I'm just getting there in life (better late than never right).

We are going to Utah for a week (our official work vacation) next Monday, but I found this 2 night deal on Living Social for a hotel down in Long Beach, WA. Because it was my birthday, and because we have not gone anywhere since our honeymoon, remember when we used to be going on little trips alll thhhheeee time while in California? I told G that we were going for a few nights. We stayed at Adrift Hotel and I loved every minute of it. The beach makes me want to lay out, swim, and play in the sand, but you can't really do that when it's 30 degrees outside!! We still managed to have a good time with each other.

I will be posting about our weekend, Christmas, and an updated baby post, but i will back track one last time on our Honeymoon/Friendmoon!

After we spent a week with our close friends, and 13 other friends on a Friendmoon a few years ago, we really wanted to spend our honeymoon (which we knew would only be 3 or 4 days) with friends! We eventually want to go on a nice long relaxing tropical vacation one day, but with both our work schedules, it wasn't going to work. Final group; Whit & G, Noelle & Jon, and Stephanie & Donte.

On the train on our way to our honeymoon!

So we decided on The Treehouse Pointe just outside of Seattle! You can check out their website, but they have 6 or 7 unique houses to stay in, so each couple stayed in their own little treehouse (equipped with everything a hotel would have). You all know that I love taking the train anywhere, so we all took Amtrak from Portland to Seattle, had a car pick us up from the train station to drive us an hour from Seattle to our little getaway!

Arrived in Seattle!

We played in the forest, went on hikes, ate some yummy food, and played games! I wish it were a longer trip, but it was just the right amount of time, and privacy with the new hubby.

After hiking around our hotel, we decided to walk into town and get some food to BBQ dinner. There were not any restaurants close to the hotel, so we needed some food! The walk ended up being pretty far, so we picked up the bus coming back! We sure made a yummy dinner though!

The day we were leaving, we had several hours from check out to the time our train was to leave, so G and I decided to explore Seattle for a few hours. The others took flights out of Seattle that morning, so it was just the two of us. Neither one of us had been there before, so we wanted to see everything, but we only had a few hours.

That same week, we were later to find out that we were expecting! Yes we got pregnant on our Honeymoon! How cliche' right?
